Ruhrtriennale – why not
Ever heard about the Ruhrtriennale? It’s a famous annual music and arts festival in the Ruhr area. The venues are sites of industrial heritage, e.g. the famous Jahrhunderhalle in Bochum. The program never really attracted me: ever it was too hard to get tickets or it wasn’t something I wanted to see. Due to some circumstances I am going to see some things. By accidents all of them will be at the Jahrhunderthalle.
I chose serveral things which would suite even people who are not easy with German language or don’t speak German at all. (Besides ‘The Tin Drum’ adpated as a stage play.) For example, the Triennale offers a variety of concerts. I chose to see and hear “Love’s Deep Ocean” which the program book of Ruhrtriennale describes as follows:
Whenever he appears on a concert stage the experts agree: Alim Qasimov, in the words of New York Times after a recent appearance at the invitation of the Kronos Quartet at Carnegie Hall, »is simply one of the greatest singers alive. His voice makes each line a revelation«.
If the New York Times writes about it, it should probably be enjoyable without knowledge of German language.
Boring ‘Very British’-Festival
Here’s my report on the ‘Very British’-Festival at the Rhein Ruhr Zentrum shopping mall in Mülheim an der Ruhr. I had announced it here. It was only okay and not really worth going there. The trick worked – we did shopping 
British Movies at the Cinemaxx in Mülheim
Yesterday I wrote about the “Very British” festival at the Rhein-Ruhr-Zentrum shopping mall in Mülheim. The festival also contains at least two English movies per day at the Cinemaxx cinemas there. Here is a list of the movies in English language between July 2nd and 11th:
- Dead Poets Society (3pm on July 11th; 6pm on July 2nd,7th; 8pm on July 5th, 10th)
- The Queen (3 pm on July 5th; 6pm on July 4th, 6th, 10th; 8pm on July 2nd, 4th, 8th)
- The Full Monty (6pm on July 3rd, 8th, 11th; 8pm on July 6th, 9th)
- Notting Hill (6pm on July 5th, 9th; 8pm on July 3rd, 7th, 1th)

Original English Movies in Cinemas in Ruhr
Trailer is the name of a free magazine with movie reviews, hints and cinema programs in Ruhr. You can get it in most cinemas. Trailer has a website, too. This website contains a page which lists all movies which are currently shown as originial version, as originial version (OV) with English subtiltles (OmeU) and as original with German subtitles (OmU). This is a really useful service. Else I had to look through a lot of websites to find something appropiate.
